UM Data Center

As MAVD developed South State Commons II in 2005, it led the forward-thinking team that developed a state-of-the-art data center in the lower level of this glass-clad, contemporary office structure. The data center includes redundant fiber, and ample electrical capacity to support fully occupied work stations, cooling for server rooms, massive flywheel and diesel backup generation, and multiple levels of security. The project was delivered as intended at a then-staggering cost in excess of $1,000 per SF.

The data center is leased and operated by the University of Michigan.
